Jesus Our True North

True North

Sometimes on this journey of life, it feels like we have lost our way or we find it difficult to see the next step but I do feel that we as children of God need to be reassured that the Lord wants to help us find our way.

This story rings fresh in my mind…

A few days ago I met a friend for lunch and once we were done I headed home. Although this time around as I got into my car, I prayed and asked the Lord should I take the N1 or N2 (Both Main Highways). I was well aware that there were road works taking place on the N1 and it would result in major delays in getting home yet I felt a prompting from Holy Spirit to take it. (`Jehovah Sneaky is always at work). I drove along and all seemed normal and at one point I thought to myself, “good shot the roadworks must be done and no wonder I felt led to take the route that I was on”.

BUT SUDDENLY traffic came to a halt and it felt like I was dragging on forever. I thought to myself, the N2 would have really been the easier road, as this delay would cause me to arrive home very much later than planned.
The whole of the N1 was shut down from a certain point and they were rerouting traffic along an alternative route. They had placed road signs all along the route for people who did not know the way so at no point would you get lost. The road signs were clearly demarcated and if you kept following them it got you back onto the N1 Highway.

Alternate Route

As I drove I asked the Lord did I miss something or hear incorrectly as I would have been home already if I had just taken the alternative route. I felt Holy Spirit begin to speak to me that this delay was very strategic, as He wanted to reveal something to me. “An alternate route will still get you to the desired destination if you follow the voice of Holy Spirit even though your arrival may be delayed.” He showed me that the road signs along the way were a representation of Holy Spirits voice. (Keep Left, Turn Right Here etc). Sometime along life’s journey we go off course or we lose our way but all we need to do is realign with the voice of Holy Spirit as He will get us back on course so that we can reach our desired destinations. If we keep missing or ignoring the signs (Holy Spirits Voice) we will stay in a place of being lost or confused but that is not Papa God’s intention for us as His children.

We can take heart that Jesus is our true North and if we follow His compass direction we will never be lost. “Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding. In all your ways know, recognize, and acknowledge Him, and He will direct and make straight and plain your paths.”
(Proverbs 3:5-6 AMPC)
