2022  – The Year of the Lord’s Ruach Breath

by Caryn Lawrence
Breathe on me breath of God

As I sit, gathering my thoughts and processing all that I would like to share, I really cannot believe that we are entering the second month of the new year. 2022 has made its approach way too quickly and it feels as if 2021 is slowly becoming a distant memory. I still have to catch myself when dating things as it seems as if 2021 still wants to flow forth from my pen. I am not sure if any of you can relate but I was feeling pretty sad when taking down the Christmas tree this year as it felt as if I had just put it up when suddenly the time came for it to be taken down again. I often wish that I could press the pause button on life, and slow things down a bit, but as the saying goes, time waits for no man.

The flip side of this is that a new year always ushers us into something fresh and new. I often liken it to the completion of a good book, sad to see it coming to an end yet the anticipation of starting a new book always excites me. I am sure that many have made new year’s resolutions as that is something that is often done at the start of a new year to set personal goals and aspirations for the year ahead. In the same way, many believers start the new year off by seeking the Lord to discover what He has on His heart for the year ahead.

I was led to share some of what I felt the Holy Spirit revealing to me for 2022. I pray that this word blesses you and that you will seek the Holy Spirit for further confirmation on the below words:

A Stretching That Leads To A Catapulting

Catapult

When praying I sensed that many believers have exited the previous year feeling battle-weary, with a sense of feeling overwhelmed, overlooked and forgotten in several ways. Many are feeling stretched way beyond what they thought possible. I was then shown a picture of a catapult in the Spirit. The way a basic catapult works is that an object is pulled backwards using an elastic band and when the elastic band is released the object is then thrust forward. The greater

the pullback, the greater the distance the object will be propelled forward. I hear the Holy Spirit saying that this picture is a mirror image of what many in the body of Christ are physically experiencing. If you are feeling stretched, I feel to encourage you today to keep going and not throw in the towel because the stretching is going to catapult you forward with great momentum that will launch you into new territory. Get ready to be propelled out of the old and into the new.

Increase is coming, so enlarge your tent and add extensions to your dwelling. Hold nothing back! Make the tent ropes longer and the pegs stronger.

[Isaiah 54:2 TPT]

After sharing with a friend, I felt to include this awesome occurrence, as it just amazes me how God works. On the day I finished writing the blog, later in the evening I listened to a prophetic worship session led by Derick Thomas Prophetic Worship – Presence Driven. He sang prophetically about the stretching that will be a launching pad into the new. I was truly blown away by this confirming word that came a few hours later. This is a really anointed and powerful worship session that is definitely worth listening to.

The “Ruach” Breath Of God

Ruach Breath

I then felt that there are also those who have placed their hand to the plough expecting to reap a harvest but instead, you came away with promises unfulfilled. I heard the father saying that this was never His intention for those of us who are seekers of righteousness. He is coming to resuscitate and resurrect those things that currently look dead in our lives. I see dreams, hopes and promises that have been placed on a shelf and have been left to gather dust.

I see the Lord coming to blow off the dust and “BREATHE” fresh life over them. He comes to release His “Ruach” (Roo- akh meaning Spirit, Breath, Wind) breath upon these promises, hopes and dreams causing them to be ignited with life and momentum once more. I believe that we going to experience a fresh release of the “BREATH” of God in this season. The same breath that blew upon the dry bones in the book of Ezekiel and caused a mighty army to arise.

So I prophesied as he commanded me, and breath entered them; they came to life and stood up on their feet—a vast army.

[Ezekiel 37:10 NIV]

Use Your Mouth To Possess The Promises Of God

Your Words Matter

I heard the Lord saying that God’s people need to begin to prophesy life over dead and derelict areas of their lives and watch as these areas spring up with life anew. We are in a time where we cannot look at what we are seeing and let that define us, we need to look to Jesus and hear what He is saying and then prophesy those words into our situations. I am reminded of Reinhard Bonnke’s words, “Holy Spirit told me, ‘My word in your mouth is just as powerful as My Word in My

mouth'”. As believers, we need a fresh revelation of the great power of the declarative word and how our words carry life and the power to transform. It matters what we are releasing from our mouths as our words are like arrows that go forth and they have the ability to create or tear down. Let us be like Ezekiel who prophesied what the Spirit of God was showing Him and did not speak from what He saw with His natural eyes.

Then he said to me, “Prophesy to these bones and say to them, ‘Dry bones, hear the word of the Lord! This is what the Sovereign Lord says to these bones: I will make breath enter you, and you will come to life.

[Ezekiel 37: 4-5 NIV]

As we release these words that the Lord is showing us to speak forth from our mouths, I see the breath of God hitting our words and causing them to become pregnant with life in the Spirit. At the appointed time there will be a birthing of these promises and the springing forth of new life. We are in a season whereby God wants to transform our desert season into an oasis through the declarative word causing fresh life and hope to arise.

The Missing Key Is Repentance

True Repentance

I heard the Lord saying that there is a missing key hindering the forward motion of the body of Christ in this hour and that key is “REPENTANCE”. Repentance is one of the many keys that is required to unlock doors of breakthrough in the lives of believers. Repentance is a word that is often avoided but it is a core foundation of the Christian faith. Repentance is the act of turning our backs on sin and then turning towards Jesus and aligning with His will for our lives.

I believe that the Lord is showing me that there is a John the Baptist call arising in this hour, echoing what John the Baptist cried out, “repent for the kingdom of heaven has come near”.

Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord.

[Acts 3:19 NIV]

I hear the father saying that a spirit of pride, entitlement and a victim mentality is keeping us from repentance as these are the very spirits operational in the world today. They prevent us from taking responsibility for our own sins and the sins of the generational line gone before and it causes us to pass blame instead of taking accountability. It is time for us as believers to embrace repentance in its fullness in order to step into a life of transformation and breakthrough. Repentance is not only about the past but it causes us to step into a bright future filled with much promise, as chains of bondage snap off us.

In Closing…

In 2022, allow the Lord to come and invade your life with fresh fire. Allow the fire of purification to come and touch you in a new way as I still believe God is raising up a new breed of people who walk in holiness. I wrote about this in a previous blog post: “A shaking that ushers in a holiness movement” if you would like to read more.

Finally, I want to wish every one of my followers a blessed and favourable 2022. May the God of resurrection life invade your lives and resurrect that which looks barren or dead. I am reminded of this old hymn – Breathe on me breath of God, that sums it all up so well, God is releasing His breath that brings life anew in the coming year!

Stay Blessed
