Death is not the end of your story

Death is not the end of your story

Tonight as I sit here, I am wondering if this is really what I am feeling prompted to write about … Death… I would agree with you completely if you are thinking that this is such a stark and morbid topic to write about. Yes, there are many more uplifting and fun topics but this is really an important one too. I know that death is said to be inevitable but I have exciting news for you as I am here to remind you that death is not the end of your story.

My story begins with my Great Aunt who sadly passed away last week. We as a family were fully aware that she had breast cancer and that due to her age and the fact that her cancer had spread, there was little that doctors could do to treat her. She was definitely a fighter and many times when we visited her and asked the nurses how she was doing, the same response was often reiterated, “This one is a fighter and does not give up very easily. (With a broad smile on her face)”

Death is not the end

Fast forward to last week, my mom and I were going about our daily activities when we received the unexpected phone call to say that my Aunt had passed on. As I overheard my mom communicating with the nurse, waves of sadness and disbelief flowed over me. Even though we knew the circumstances, her death still took us by surprise. Death is always one of those things that you cannot plan, which is the very reason that it is said that death comes as a thief in the night. My mother was the next of kin so she had to make all the necessary funeral arrangements, and I assisted her wherever possible. My Aunts funeral was this week past and what an amazing celebration of her life, 89 wonderful years to be exact. She knew the Lord Jesus as her personal saviour and we as a family have the peace and assurance that she is in heaven and that eternal life is her portion.

Jesus has the power to save us

The reason I am telling you about my Aunts story is that I have a question for you to ponder today if death should come knocking at your door, do you have the assurance of eternal life? Will heaven be your home?

Now you may be asking the question, “How do you know that your aunt is definitely in heaven and has eternal life?” Well, the bible says that we can have the assurance of heaven if we know Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and saviour.

I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.

~ 1 John 5:13 ~.

Many people believe that it is all about the life that you live on the earth and they are not concerned about what happens to them on the other side of the grave. The truth is that after we die we will continue living for eternity, either in heaven, which is eternal bliss or in hell, which is eternal damnation.

“Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.”

~ Matthew 25:46 ~

We also need to be aware that by no means can we earn our way into heaven, as it is not by works or anything that we can do but it is ONLY by what Jesus did on the cross for us. So no matter how hard you work, how good you are or how much good you do, this is not a qualifying factor. What does qualify us is that we do have a personal relationship with King Jesus. Salvation comes by grace and grace alone.

“Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.”

~ Ephesians 2:9 ~

In conclusion, death is not the end of our journey but it is the doorway into eternity! If we know Jesus as our personal Lord and saviour we can have the assurance of spending eternity in heaven with Jesus. I can only encourage you to do so, as you will enter into the best adventure of your life EVER and LIVE A LIFE WORTH LIVING!

Prayer Corner

If you don’t know Jesus as your personal saviour today and you would like to know him intimately as your Lord and Saviour then you can pray the following prayer and be assured of eternal life (I would love to hear from you if you do):

Lord Jesus, I admit that I am a sinner and I am in need of your forgiveness. I have lived my life according to my own will but today I come to ask for your forgiveness and surrender my life into your hands. I believe that Jesus died on the cross for my sins and was raised from the dead and that through Him I now have eternal life. I ask you Jesus to come and live inside of me and be Lord of my life. I believe in faith that I am now a child of God. Amen

“If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved”

~ Romans 10:9 ~

Therefore if you prayed this prayer, you are now born again and a child of Papa God. I celebrate with you and you now have the assurance that heaven is your home and death no longer has any hold over you. You can rest in the confidence that you are on the best adventure with a God that loves you beyond measure and only has the best in store for you! Praise King Jesus.
